She stole our hearts with roles like, “Queenie” from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and kept out attention with her position as one of the lead contenders for controlling the “Empire” as Cookie Lyon. Now Taraji P. Henson is on an all-new road altogether, math.  The star will be playing mathematics extraordinaire Katherine Johnson. Johnson was one of the first women to not only desegregate West Virginia University’s graduate school, but also helped gage the range for Alan Shepard’s moon mission, who later became one of the first men who ventured off into space. These accomplishments, amazing as they may be, are only a few things Johnson has accomplished. It was only fitting that another reputable African American female, such as Henson, have the honor of showcasing her story. The movie will be based on the book “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race” written by Margot Lee Shetterly. Although a release date has yet to be announced, we can’t help but do the math on how many figures we think this movie will do at the box office.
